    Kinetic suspension

Been reading about kinetic suspension for a while now and searched the archives on a few different sites, but all I can find is what's fitted to the new cruiser.Has anyone got more recent info?
Since kinetic sold out their website doesn't show up anymore.
    Cheers Eric.

Was that the suspension some bloke in WA invented back in the 80's? If it's the one I'm thinking of, I remember thinking how totally awesome it was, but it was very, very, expensive. Back then, they were looking for sponsors ... and then it sort of drifted away ... I thought it was going to be really big, but never heard any more about it.

The original design replaced coil springs with a computer controlled hydraulic ram. They had several R+D Defenders converted and tried to sell the system to the British Army but failed.
The Dakar Pajaheros have used Kinetic gear. From what I have seen in the 4x4 mags, the Tojo LC200 Kinetic gear is an improved D2 ACE style setup.

In the latest 4x4 Australia magazine, there's a comparison between a LC200 with the KDSS, Pajero and D3 (all diesels).

They don't seem to be too impressed with the KDSS in the LC200 (or maybe they're just saying that it cannot achieve what it should be capable of in that vehicle because of other issues, like lousy ground clearance).

The D3 came out on top in the comparison by the way .....

I've been buying that magazine for a while now - have found that their write-ups and comparisons are very considered and unbiased - unlike the largely ill informed crap of another local magazine that I used to read.
    Cheers .........

I remeber seeing articles about this some years back. i thought it looked prety good too.
    I've wondered about them also.
From what I've seen around you can get some pretty goodarticulation from aftermarket airbag systems.
I went on a jaunt some about 6 years back with a mad Jeep man by the name of Wooders from the 4WD monthly forum who had airbags in a little Wrangler. Pretty awesome flex in that.

Wooders Jeep is basically a streetable comp car. He competed in TuffTruck a couple of years ago with it. There isn;t a lot in the suspension that he's running which is standard, and it's all designed to flex.

RMP- I would like to know if anyone has tried building their own system or has Tenneco made any plans to produce an aftermarket kit, surely an idea that good must be worth pursuing.
    Cheers Eric.
