Did you send the form back to vicroads?

If you are selling unregistered all you need to do is provide a receipt as proof of ownership. Keep a copy for yourself, to cover you for speeding fines etc. You then return the plates to VicRoads. There is no reason to sell it registered if it has to go interstate anyway. If the new owner wants to drive it back you can leave it registered till he gets home and then he sends you the plates back. You then cancel the registration. If he does not send the plates back you cancel the registration after the agreed time anyway.

Yes that what he wants. So the receipt will cover me from speeding fine, etc?
