Thread: series 2 touring car

Mate why not they been doing that for 60yrs now. Would love to do the same however convincing the mrs touring the country in my Series3 would be more fun than the disco will be the clincher

Can't see why not. Just be prepared to drive a bit slower is the main drawback, but lots of advantages. I drove one all over Australia forty-five years ago when the roads were a lot worse than today, and the worst problem I ever had was a flat tyre.

Main thing is you are probably looking at a vehicle that has been in use for close to fifty years - check it thoroughly for impending problems before setting off.

I am doing similar to my Series 3. They make a great touring vehicle and simpler to fix if you have basic skills and some tools.

You may end up spending quite a bit to get it right - and they don't have the modern comforts and are a bit slower and noisier.

We'd love to see some pictures of your series 2.

Is yours a real Series II? (as opposed to a IIA) and does it have a name?

I think its a real s2, from what investigative work i've done. I do want to check the vin numbers but it's currently getting new leaf springs, the bushes were too much for me to do alone... I have called it "you bitch" seems the only appropriate thing to say when chugging up a hill.. also sounded amusing saying 'just put the bags in you bitch'.. I put some pics up in the introduction sections but heres some too

Mate if you like the Series go for it. They are not as bad as people make out. I had a Series 111 88" for years and did heaps of longer trips in it. I put better seats,smaller steering wheel and some upholstery in mine.
They will sit on 80 KMH all day once off road it doesn't matter how slow it is.

In your other thread you say it is a '63 - that would make it a Series IIA. ('61-'71) I don't mean to split hairs, but I am busily tracking down early ('58) series IIs ('58-'61) and was wondering if this could be one of them.

Search "2L Series IIs" if the above doesn't make sense.

Its a great little truck though! Looks like it will be a barrel of fun!
