    NSW only? Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on how adventurous/isolated you want to get. What do you want to do when you get there?

    Best time for the Victorian High Country is Autumn.
    Also, a lot of the tracks are closed until November.

    There are plenty of other places around NSW for you to explore.
    Also, as you will be taking the dogs, you should investigate camping in some of the Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR'S). No facilities but plenty of nice camp spots, often beside a river.

    By September the sun will be out & the snow mostly gone!! a lot of the tracks will be closed but you could travel over Mt Hotham and get to Omeo. I found some good tracks & nice spots to camp on the long weekend in that area, but I wont be posting the details here !!!
