    afraid to say not the spotter fault though... the driver wasn't paying attention to the spotter or couldn't see him properly... he was told to turn to his right

    I totally agree - not the spotters fault. He didnt have his foot on the go pedal. Looks like simply too much power at the wrong time to me!

    You're probably right. But he was using his right hand and waiving that by pointing to his left (driver's right). In the heat of the moment there is room for confusion, but if the spotter had used his left hand and waived/pointed with that I reckon the confusion would have been lesser.

    On the other hand, a stop signal might have been on the cards too.

    Easy to say in retrospect though.
