There's a similar structure in Dowth Ireland built by the Celts, it's around 4500yrs old, pre-dating Stonehenge by quite a few yrs, it even pre-dates the Pyramids, I assumed the present day English are more decended from the Saxons and Normans, but you may be right, I'm often wrong John

Since the Celts only moved into the UK about 450BC, it is hardly likely to have been built by them!

I think it is gradually being realised that in many invasions, the majority of the people at the end of the day are descended from the people who were already there, even if they adopt much of the culture of their conquerors. This applied certainly to the Norman invasion of England, probably to the Anglo-Saxon invasion, certainly to the Roman invasion. In more modern times it applied to the Spanish invasion of many south and central American countries, but not to either the US or Canada.

Not really any such race as the 'Celts'. It's just an umbrella term for a load of different people who migrated across Europe in the middle and late iron ages.

That might be true if these people didn't have the same customs, beliefs and social hierarchy etc throughout Western Europe. But they did so it's not. Even Julius Caesar wrote extensively on them when on campaign in Gaul. I could go on but it's the wrong thread for it
