    It would but, if you've got a ****ed back or are otherwise incapacitated in a similar manner it is really difficult to put socks on. Last year after I was in a car accident I could barely move and trying to put socks on using only your feet and friction from the floor is really difficult. I would have loved a device like this.

    For most people, yes. But those lacking the flexibility to reach down to their feet (probably all of us at some point in our lives) this could provide an aid to remaining independent. My old man, now no longer with us, needed just such an aid during the last 10 years of his life. His metallic knees wouldn't allow him to reach down to his feet, but he was able to keep dressing himself with a little help like this. He also had a gadget that helped him get his shoes on.
