We lived on a busy road with park land across the road.
The park had a fence that consisted of 4x4regum posts with a 4x4 top rail.
A car lost control, hit the fence and then the top rail speared the grill, firewall, the drivers midriff and through the rear of his seat.
They had to cut the post either side of guts and lift him into the ambulance with the post still in him.
I slept through the whole event but my dad was there and he told me about it.
About 40 years ago I was front seat passenger in a 180B when the driver lost it in a wet timber deck bridge somewhere north of Bungendore. We went through the bridge rails, which were those 4x4 redgum things. One came through the screen In front of my head and behind his, the bottom one came through under my legs and pierced the tunnel. The middle one broke off thank God, or whoever. We then fell about 20 feet into the river. Injuries? I cracked three ribs, and he dislocated his thumbs bracing on the wheel.
