I would have almost said that bit was impossible to machine from a single piece of material. At first I thought it was aluminium alloy but at the 8:07 mark, it looks like steel swarf being blued by the heat.

Dry machining was interesting for me. I thought all the machines of that style used some kind of soluble oil.

I'm not sure if this pic should be here or in the Motor Cycling or Camping sections. It's one way to travel light. It won't show here so you will have to click on the link.

And at the 21 sec mark it looks rusty.

I assumed it was an exercise to demonstrate their machining capabilities. Pretty darn impressive!

Yeah, looks like a test piece. Damn, that can do a lot! Yes that chuck change was awesome. So, what does one of those cost. I was looking for a small lathe and milling machine, but I could always upgrade....

Also, that appeared to be a solid steel billet by the surface rust on it, but no coolant or lubricant was used. What are the tools made of? And what a tool selection - most machines I've seen have a rotating tool head with 10 or 15 tools. That sucker had a conveyor full!

Where did that lotto ticket go...
