Natural (?) disasters are going to take a bigger toll on life than they have in the past, simply due to population density, apart from el Nino / Global Warming effects.
I don't have a problem with Defence Forces spending big on defence & rescue' of civilians as an on-going Training Exercise.

My goodness, I must be one of the very few that grew up with Meccano instead of Lego. My dad still has thousands of Meccano parts, and still makes some exceptional models.

I passed my meccano on to my nephew about forty years ago - I wonder what happened to it?

I never had meccano. But I intend to buy some for my young fella to have. I might even let him use it. Saw it the other day, still available.
