Thread: Any Knowledge or memories of Amilcars?

Bruce Smeaton of Binalong NSW, smeaton@westnet.com.au, is the Godfather of Amilcar owners, restorers, and enthusiasts in Australia. He is attempting to compile a record of Amilcar information before, as he says, all who remember them bundy off.

If you have or had an Amilcar, project, or parts including incomplete or unrestorable vehicles, know anyone who has or had the same, Bruce would love to hear from you. Also any knowledge or memories of Amilcars in motor sports, dealers new and used who handled them, names of owners or drivers, locations, and years/dates would all be appreciated.

He says there is a vacuum of information regarding Amilcars in Queensland. I have passed on a few memories of Amilcar owners and competitors from the fifties but can't help any further than that. So if any of you have any knowledge concerning Amilcars in Qld no matter how insignificant, Bruce wishes to record this.

Bruce has a couple of lovely restored Amilcar and uses them. Drives them to and from and in rallies rather than trailer them which he reckons is cheating. Bruce was a former Bugattiste and has some caustic things to say about replica Bugattis and ones "believed to contain some original parts".

He also has a couple of aero morgans,a Sunbeam and a little Austin 7.
