Sounds fair enough to me. CCW permits are not easy to get and generally the people with them don't abuse the right. It's not the law-abiding you need to worry about.

They can't have a gun while drinking but if they're there for dinner, they have the means to protect themselves and their family.

    Just my opinion.

In post-WWII Philippines they modelled the constitution and Bill of Rights on the one from Good Ol' Uncle Sam, including the right to bear arms.

Being Filipino they took that to it's logical conclusion so they can walk into a bank in full cowboy garb complete with six shooter on their belt and no one can stop them.

Hence banks and hotels have security guards with sub-machine guns.

I'd have to strongly disagree here. 'Generally' is fine when the consequences of exceptions are minor. Here the exceptions will potentially get people killed.

Imagine what a bar brawl in Arizona could turn into?

We're reporting live from the scene of a shootout. Eyewitnesses report it started when, returning from a bathroom, a man found his girlfriend flirting at the bar... The first shots were aimed at the pair, but a stray bullet into the dining area avalanched into a mass shootout... We still don't know what casualties there are, but stay tuned as this story develops...

I mean, even in Australia stabbings and glassings happen all too regularly in pubs and clubs, where taking any sort of a weapon is illegal. Imagine the carnage if we gave them GUNS???

bwahahaha - this is another set of rediculous laws! Why on earth would you need to be armed at a restaurant??!! If someone was to come in armed and want money, just hand it over! If your armed, you become more of a target as you are a threat to the junkie looser.

I went to a night club in Makati City (with another LR owner who I had met on the AU-LRO mailing list - not this forum) and one had to check firearms at the door. It was, umm, an interesting place!

Last time I was in Makati, also with another LR nut from a different list he told me we had to park the car at his house, not outside the bar. This is because he had his MP5 in the boot and wanted to secure it!!!

    Cheers, Steve

What would they be protecting themselves from though? Probably some other diner having a bad day.

Guns in public = trouble if you ask me. Have you watched 'Bowling for Columbine'....?
