    Snow chains

anyone used snow chains in the soft mud/clay. i have read that they work rather well and was wondering if this might save the hassle of carrying a spare set of mudders around for the occasional time might want to go play in the mud.

I have used them when I only had A/T's - but if its really muddy & you are "trapped" then they work a treat. Just make sure they are on properly before tackling a hill because if one gets thrown on a steep muddy slope you are in real trouble- thats speaking from experience.
Just make sure you don't have any friends following, because they might'nt talk to you for a while, maybe to bitch about how you chewed up the track for them.
The only time I was forced to use them, we were camped in a valley and it rained constantly, so I left early Sunday. The others camped behind me could'nt get out till Tuesday when it had dried out a bit.
