The stupid thing was that his mate had walked it first, but clearly this bloke didn't listen and just plowed through.
I think I walked all the crossings up there, didn't see any crocs except the one at Weipa in Johns photos in the distance.
What happens when you 'drown an ECU'? Does it get water inside the ECU box and fry the electrical components? Or is it water in the loom that is enough to kill things.
I've take out my ECU a couple of times, and they look like they are 100% watertight. You can't even open them without a special tool.
Hey John,
No, I did my ECU a good few years ago in a much deeper, colder, and muddier hole in the welsh mountains. As you say, cleaned and dried it and all was good:)
Spudboy,
They aren't waterproof, there are about 6 small holes in the base. water shorts them out inside, but it seems to depend on how you do it. Mine stopped on tickover and seemed to not suffer at all, but I have heard of several people who have been revving and so on, and damaged them badly.

What would happen if you injected a bit of silicon into these 6 small holes? Would being airtight harm things? I can only think of changes in temperature/altitude creating slight pressure/vacuum but can't see that messing up the way it works.
Wonder why they didn't seal it completely?
