The units share oil with the transfer case and have no dynamic seals or vents to cause leaks.The new models have a shorter quicker shift pattern than before and have stainless steel lever components that enter the cab thru the main gear change boot. When engaged the ROVERDRIVE reduces engine RPM by 28%in any gear. In fifth gear you lope along highways reducing fuel consumption and making the vehicle quieter and more fun to drive. On highways the normal practice is to leave the ROVERDRIVE engaged and shift up and down using the main gearbox as traffic and terrain dictate.
