New Desert Camouflage for Australian Perenties

2009 version of the Australian Perente Desert Camouflage Scheme

The recent activities in Iran an Afghanistan have resulted in some ground breaking technologies, such as the newly developed camouflage paint system applied to the 6x6 Land Rover Perente (pictured). The inventor has developed a paint adhesive undercoat which allows the paint to adhere to any surface, such as the tyres and lights of the vehicle pictured.
The field tests have proven to be successful (the personnel and vehicles in the background of the shot had been searching, unsuccessfully, for the Perente for over two hours when the picture was taken)

The rumour is that this paint scheme is to be carried onto all Australian military vehicles operating in the Gulf states, but they can't find where they put the paint can!

It is of interest to note that the snorkel on the Perentie pictured is situated on the opposite side of the vehicle to the normal. For a while I suspected that the photograph had been posted in reverse but I note the position of the steering wheel indicates that it is still a right hand drive vehicle
The lack of cam paint on the drivers face was the giveaway actually, the vehicle paint seems to be very effective.
    Regards

Also its interesting to note that the field tests showed that by painting the rear mirrors no ill effects were experienced by drivers not being able to view the vehicles following, as they could'nt be seen in any case..

Are there plans to install paint dispensers or drippers to cover the tyre tracks?

So does that mean that tow hitches arn't going to be fitted?

You couldn't see it when reversing, I guess you feel it when it's jack-knifed..
