    car capers

    Good luck.

My parents are off to Tasmania this weekend for a couple of weeks being volunteer officials for the Kidney Kar rally (similar fundraising event to the Variety Bash but with a bit more competitive stuff thrown in). They love it...

Hopefully you won't have too much "work" to do.

So I take it you won't be there in a mechanicing capacity..... just sitting back and having a laugh at the broken down Jaloppies.

On the trial bash a few weeks ago, our car stalled midstream on 7 of the 14 river crossings in the Condamine River gorge track.

Geez I missed the Range Rover that day.

Looking forward to the Bash though, should be a great time.

Well we're kind of hoping we've done most of our breaking down already.

Though I came to realise on the shakedown weekend that breaking down is half the adventure, a lot of keen mechanics there to help when things don't go to plan.

When do you head up to Townsville ?

We are setting off on Sunday 9th, hopefully getting there late on Monday 10th. A couple of days R & R & R before the start on Thursday.

Great start, made excelent time to townsville stopping at pretty much the same places we stopped at on the way up for the trip to the ccccc start point.

got some excelent from cab photos of monday nights sunset.

yes, the drinking and bribing has started.

my first bit of graft was a box of panadol to sort out the wednesday morning hangover which decided to hang around till about 1400.

we start the bash proper tomorrow and so far the charity has already pushed over something like 80tho worth of goods to theneedy.

Glad to hear you eventually pulled up alright Dave. From what I heard it was touch and go there for a while !!!

    We are pleased as punch.

Our car is in the top 10 of fund raisers this year, so we will be amongst the first cars off in the morning.

Dave has a GPS tracker so we can see where he is. Very "Big Brother" 1984.

Check out his bash car website. (He didn't go to work much last week!)
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I think Dave (aka adm333) is in a bit of trouble with his 'river crossings' again.
I just checked out the live tracking on his website and it indicates that he's located in the bay off Townsville!!
I hope he gets it sorted out before the start tomorrow.

ha ha I thought that would be funny to have the last position in the the middle of the water.

I took it on the Magnetic Island ferry yesterday.
