Not even close it would only make most males 120 cm tall, if they have a flat head, just tall enough for a woman to place the chardonnay glass on comfortably without having to stoop. Checking the correct chart 3 months by three times is an over-estimation and the average full adult height for males would be about 10 cm less than the calculation.

When I was a child, it was a commonly held belief/old wive's tale/urban myth or scientific fact, that people grew to be twice the height they were at the age of two.

It was pretty accurate for my four brothers and one sister.

    How about you?
Yep, my family is a firm believer in this theory. I'm spot on what was predicted at age 2!

If all is correct, my 11 & 13 year olds should end up 5'11" & 5'10". (still shorter than me)

Yes it worked for me too.

Boys at the 50th percentile at age 18 years should be = 176.25 cm

Girls at the 50th percentile at age 2 years should be = 84.75cm
Girls at the 50th percentile at age 3 years should be = 94.75cm
Girls at the 50th percentile at age 18 years should be = 163.75 cm

    Is that close enough.

My reading of that is that the old wive's tale is less than 3 cm under for boys and less than 6 over for girls who are at the median height.

    That's reasonably close.

I love being an over-achiever. Popped out at St Vincent's at 24" long, bringing my mother much hero worship from all the nurses.

Will see if she knows how big I was at 2.
