    Home

Well after nearly 10000km I am home from this years trip.

    Highlights
Successfully completing the Gunbarrel Highway solo
Picking up and assisting Alex and his family (full blood aboriginals) on the Great central Road
Managing to capture on vidio some great memories of animal encounters.
    The Olgas
    Dalhouse springs
The people I met on the gunbarrel
A family I met at Ularoo
Some other people I met randomly over the trip
The night sky and the show they put on for any prepared to look
Dave for his assistance replacing my HF radio
Theres others that will come to mind in the trip report
The performance of the disco (not totally without fault) that got me home in one piece

The lowlights (for want of a better word)
    Finishing the trip
Having to replace my HF radio (because of a battery change out before I left tassie)
Losing my camera (more the point all my pics)
Leaving Lake Ayre early (more on that in trip report)
Short list of lowlights and I cant think of any more (means a successful trip)

    Mechanical Failures
Nothing that slowed me down or made me change plans but at Mt Dare I found the battery tray on the RHS had busted all the spotwelds and my battery was hanging at a funny angle and had nearly rubbed the casing through on the battery/aircon pipe. So into the workshop at Mt Dare and remove the wheel and put self tappers in where the lower spot welds were, this seemed vto stabalise the battery tray, so a rag was jammed between the battery and aircon pipes to stop the rubbing. Will remove battery soon and assitain real damage and repair now Im home.
Busted the LHS brake line (RHS busted last year) around Finke after pulling up in a hurry to assist what I thought was a Kid standing by a toyota on the side of the road (turns out the parents were sitting down and he was just waving). The brake line was duly clamp with vice grips and many zip ties later sucured to the good brake pipe (Still running on front brakes only (JC hope you have remember to order my pipe). Had to remove a set of draw slides as some rivets had broken and I couldnt shut the draw (another job for this coming week).
What a great trip (report some time later)
    cheers
    blaze
