Has anyone got any suggestions for insuring Modified Landies (I know, they all are!) TCIS is starting to get too pricey.
Mate i pay $400 a year with cgu i have a 300di 1995 disco with lift, mud tyres and the lot, i just drowned it and got covered for it all, for only a 300 excess, its awesome
Hi Pete, long time no see...
Mine are almost stock compared to yours, but when I last re-insured my 4x4s, suncorp were the cheapest, closely followed by DGA - who I think are fairly happy with mods?
You must have to list quite a lot on your insurance???
NRMA were $170 cheaper for me than AAMI even when I addressed the options so they offered to cover every non standard item for an extra $45 which the other leading companies refused to even discuss it with me.
btw , I had been with AAMI for over 20yrs and they didnt care.

I also tend to change ins company yearly.
They are not loyal so why should I be.
What often influences ins quotes is post code.
Check where you live and if under cover/off-street or garage.
Just had a phone call from TCIS today. They said to expect a 35% increase on my LSV insurance renewal!
TCIS tried other insurers and said Lumleys (LSV) was still the cheapest.
I'll be shopping around anyway.
Hi Justin,
after 10 years with TCIS I dropped out and headed to RACQ, didn't save a whole heap but less premium, excess and windscreen included plus a higher value on the car. $100 in my pocket is better for me.
Don't forget to ask if they cover you in a 4wd club, (some don't) and 4wd parks (considered an event arena by some). Most of the cheapies I found want to charge you for a modifed excess e.g. $600 normal $400 lifted, $400 chipped so works out crap if your car is stolen or damaged in a carpark, and I would have save only $50 with this insurer.
