Lead blankets for engine and bell housing

Noisekiller UK tells me that Lead-lined engine blankets are available for the engine and bell houing areas. They cost £78.26 and £91.30 each, plus carriage.

These would be for my Defender 110 CSW Td5. I wonder if any of you have used them, or a similar thing. I've already fitted Noisekiller's standard kit and unless these blankets are super-good, I'm somewhat reluctant to spend more money and have the items shipped overseas at great expense.

Uncle Ho has a similar covering that covers his tunnel cover on his Series IIA, has the effect of reducing noise and heat. Looks good too

Reverse Garbage on Montague rd West End in Brisbane (I think there is one in Sydney too) has this in from time to time. I got enough to do my bonnet, bell housing, firewall and under the passenger side floor and the whole lot cost $10.

It was self adhesive on one side and a real bastard to get off if i made a mistake . The only problem with it is that finding it is hit and miss, it took 3 visits to get the amount i needed, but for you guys in brisbane they are well worth a visit.

I have had a fair bit of this and other noise insulation material from Reverse Garbage over the years. My wife used to be their book-keeper and would tell me when various stuff came in. The last few times I have been there, they told me they no longer get this as the supplier has changed their process and there is no longer leftovers. Same with the full sheets of gasket cork I used to get there. No longer available to them.
