    Thanks!

    TR Spares said between $1700-$1900 depending on condition. So they're the cheapest so far...what are they like quality and service wise?

    I tried googling LVS Penrith but no luck. Do they have a website or phone number?

    TR spares are very good! their prices can be a bit up and down though..

    LVS= land vehicle spares.

    LT230's are hard to break so dont hesitate in buying a low klm 2nd hand one.

    cheers phil

    As already mentioned the only thing that will kill a transfer case is not having it locked and giving it a hard time.

    I would get it rebuild if it was mine...

    I know people who have picked up good SH LT230s for as low as $800. But I think disco versions are cheaper???

    Also, it would be a good idea to buy and fit an upgraded cross shaft from Jacmac.

    Just fix the one you have

    Overhaul kit for bearings seals and gaskets is $400 and the spider gears and cross shafts for the diff should be a bit less than that. If the diff housing is not damaged where the cross shafts are clamped that is all that is required.

    Rebuild in accordance with manual. If you do not want to rebuild it yourself there is a shop in archerfield that does it for a very reasonable price. Will have to dig out number if interested.

    Hey throwing another spanner in the works...I just saw a LT230 1.22 for sale on Ebay on the Sunshine Coast at a very good price - my old one is 1.410 and I'm running 235/85/R16's. Do you think the 15% difference in gearing is going to make my 200Tdi too sluggish?

    You have a set of the 1.41:1 gears sitting on you bench if you want to go back from 1.22:1

    That would be ideal, only problem is two of the gears have been damaged chewing bits of teeth from the diff.
