$550 quote to paint roof of my 90 White. OK?

Got a quote from the local panel beaters (local - i.e. 200 people in the town) to do the following to my little 90's roof:

o Pull out the alpine windows
o Flat the current grey paint
o Re-spray the roof in 2 pack white (Chawton White, I am thinking)
    o re-fit the alpine windows.

Any thoughts as to whether that is reasonable, or should I go down to the big smoke that is Adelaide city for another quote?

    Tks
    David

Sounds good to me....don't think you would get it much cheaper without it looking like clap.

that price is fine, a good quality 2k will cost around the $200 mark for enough to do the roof, then theres the few hours taping up the rest of the car.

you could save a few bucks and remove the windows and flatten the paint your self.

All sounds good then. Have booked it in for next week. They just need it for 2 days.

I might get my Wolf rims sprayed the same colour at the same time seeing that they'll have all the paint set to go etc.

What's happening at the windscreen end, are they taking the screen out or just tape and paint? You would hate to have it start peeling from the front as there would be no seal on the paint. I've seen a couple of cars where the paint just peeled off as moisture/wind got under it at some stage.it peeled off like sun burnt skin.

the roof attaches to the windscreen frame, no need to take the windscreen out.

They will mask to the "inside bottom" of the guttering along the sides, and to the inside of the seam across the front.

It will not be as white as a factory roof, because that would involve taking off the whole roof to spray the outside of the gutters properly. So it will only be 98% of a factory look - the gutters will still be grey, and it won't go all the way down to the screen/roof join at the front.
