    Bunya Mountains camping trip

    Have booked a couple of nights camping in the Bunya mountains in the Sept school hols. Can anyone recommend any particular walks?

    haven't been there for years as well but I have heard that the parrot feeding no longer happens at the kiosk due to the concerns of some bleeding hearts and the fact that there are now so many houses adjacent to the park, everyone feeds the birds so they no longer congregate in big numbers.I am going up next weekend, so will be in for a shock by the sounds of it.Link below might help you decide on walks.

    Hi, great spot to visit. Can't recall the walks now as it was some years ago that we were there.Beware of the falling bunya nuts as they are big and heavy.One car had a nut fall on the roof and the driver could not open his door because of the buckling it caused.Cheers, 130man.

    September is not my choice of months to be camping up there but you have take what opportunities are available, in this case its the school holidays

    Have knocked over the Bakers Creek Circuit (~10km +/-) three times over the last 3 days.....

    1st lap we walked and did all the side tracks....part of the scenic circuit is closed so it’s and out and back which is catching some young families. 10+ km walk

    2nd and 3rd Laps have been just Bakers Creek Circuit, 8 ish km startfrom the house we’re in finish at carpark. We have ran it both ways taking around 1hr....oh than the 1k walk back to the House.

    This morning the mountain was covered in fog/mist and it was like it was raining in the forest.....

    might knock over one of the walks on the western side this arvo.

    For those a little less active the short walk to the big strangling fig is worth it....the host tree is long gone and you walk right through the strangling dog...pretty cool Bunya Mountains camping trip

    Knocked over a couple of more walks this arvo....although no as planned

    Plan was to do walks 6 & 7.....didn’t bother taking the map.....pulled up in Westcott and had a look at the NP info sign and was scratching my head thinking that not what I recall.

    There was also more track closure notices....track 8 closed for maintenance.

    We head off on 7 with me a little confused....2.5k loop, got back and it dawned on me we should have parked at Paradise.....worked out well as the western side walks are no as rainforesty as the eastern......given it was warmish we bailed on doing a return walk on 6

    Nice tent camping area st Westcott....NP even provide wood.

    We headed off to Burton Well to knock over walk 10......nice little walk to the summit of Mt Kaingarow.....we are going to come back and watch the sunset, just need some batteries for the headlamps.

    Tent camping only at Burton Well and it would be our pick if we return in the Poptop. I forgot to check the shower, I assume you need gold coins either way a nice camp ground.

    Tomorrow we will run Baker Creek again first up, hopefully crack the 1hr.....than go for a bit of a drive and hopefully be back in time for the Whisky Tasting for 20$ at the restaurant.....they have over 100 whisky’s on the shelf.
