    Hi lardy

I generally use Edit Function on the image editing software that's built into the site I upload my piccys to , www.tinypic.com

it allows to resize your image and save it.

Use Paint. Already comes with every version of Windows.

    Image > Resize/Skew
(change to, say, 50% or whatever)
(If you don't like this - CTRL&Z to undo, and try again with a different %)

    File > Save as

Paint is a real PITA if you want to do more than a couple of pics ata time though.

What's best free one for batch resizing ?

When I was a kid we used to stick chip packets in the oven and they'd shrink. Maybe you could try the same thing with your photos.

If you use Picassa ( it's good and free from Google.com ) just go to File > Export Picture to Folder.
A window will come up and you can specify the file size and folder you want.
If you export to a folder that is synched to your web albums ( if you use Google ) you will bypass the manual uploading step.
