Thread: CAMPING

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF CAMPING IS STILL ALLOWED AT RUNNING RIVER NEAR THE OLD TOWNSHIP OF EWAN.I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOW FENCED OFF AND PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Hearing different messages on this one....

One is protesting that it is a river and then access is available.

Other is that the river is down and that the impact is that the cattle are reluctant to go to drink when "Campers" are there.

In the past the river has been down and I have been there (by myself) and camped. Not challenged. But not a good camp either. The river should be up now (although I have not been there to look), so camping should be better but not at its best as I doubt that the river has not flooded, cleaning it up.

We have been there in previous years and the local yocals have just trashed the place. We have cleaned up only to find on return the same again. I can understand the logic of the land owners.

It is a river and I expect that I can visit a river.

I would check and maybe phone the owners in advance to gain access. As a courtesy.
