    Identify this one

Hi I am trying to get a pic of our old Land Rover Forward control Fire truck on this thread not sure how to go about this. I have not been able to find anything that looks like it on the net??

It was a six cylinder Rover motor 4 spd gear box very slow but off the road went any where it was pointed. This unit was sold to a private buyer and might still be around?? Sorry still trying to get my head around this site, cannot get the picture up?

    1. If you are using the "manage attachments" bit to add a picture from your computer, you need to take note of the allowed size of attachment. You probably need to reduce the size of the picture using a suitable photo manipulation program such as The Gimp.

    2. As far as I can tell from your avatar picture, it is a Landrover 2b 110. The clue to distinguish from the 2a FC 109 is the headlight position. The 2b was a marked improvement, but was canned by Leyland because the numbers sold were too low.

    Hi there

They were quite rare as Firetrucks in Australia as well....

I suspect Diana might take up the subject more as the Forward Control she owns used to be a Fire Truck.....wonder if it could be the same one

Very hard to tell from the avatar image but I suspect it may be a Carmichael forward control conversion but may be a regular series forward control with a fire engine conversion by Carmichael or Fire Armour (same company as made Ellard's ex-SMHEA fire engine.)

There were numerous fire engine conversions on regular series f/c cab chassis, even some done by the Government Ordinance Factory, Maribyrnong for the Navy. Then there were others modified by the CFA for bushfire use, I have 2 that served in that capacity at some time.

Bring on a pic that my ageing eyes can see!
