My 4WD is to take me places I can't get to in a road car. e.g., for camping, etc.
I also enjoy driving it more than a car. I also prefer it over my motorbikes.
:lol2:
so you camp on the road:eek:...you said seriously I'm not that interested in off roading:D
When we go out Ron its not always rock hoping:) sometimes we go out for just scenic drives....if your not interested in that then I reckon your camp sites really must be excessable by a 2wd:p
i've heard of head mechanics in big city workshops struggling to make $17.50/hr...... **** that considering the responsibility involved
Award wage in NSW is just un der $17.
NSW State Awards - NSW Office of Industrial Relations
$17.50 per hour, they have to be mad
I would do as Bigjon have done!
I guess that the idea is to get a job in your trade where the competition charge a lot of money for their services.
I remember back in 1986 GE used to charge $300 for call out and $250 per hour for servicing the NC box in an Index slant lathe.
I was very cheap for my employer earning 39000 that year :)
Then I started my own business and in 1989 my charfe rate was $35 per hour plus travelling, Very competitive rate which the importers of the machines were unable to match.
It would be hard to do that in the motor cars industry. I guess :(
To employ a trained, experienced tech : min $25 ph. Overheads for holiday pay, sick leave provisions, compulsory superannuation and workers comp insurance : added another $15 (min) per hour.
Then there is the cost of a complete tool set for each bay /tech ($2,500 =$10ph over a year) plus additional margin to employ a receptionist /service advisers etc. etc. add in insurance, electricity, EPA fees, council rates... and interest etc on the $$$$ it cost to build / lease the workshop... Plus a profit margin to plough back to maintain equipment, invest in new technology etc ... it all adds up.
That's why we need forums like this one to help us DIY-ers feed our obsession
