    portal diff

Thanks for the help so far..
Looking at the whole setup at the moment diff & hub..
    Posible chassis swap..

Thanks HSVRangie & isuzurover but I think they could be a bit out of the price range.. Have heard that you can get rebuilt unimog ones for about $3,000 each but need to look at supply & parts available..

"garrycol" I didn't know that the VW Kombies had a portal option, where they still independant or did they use a solid diff (could be an option) but I would think they are very rare...

The earlier Kombis had them, the ones with the "solid" transaxle that pivoted from the gearbox, they can usually be spotted because the rear wheels have heaps of positive camber when they are unloaded.
The later models with a CV joint inboard and outboard didn't have them.

Is this for a comp truck or to be engineered for road use? I really would like to portal my 120" but a few engineers I talk to say it will be difficult unless we start with improving the donor of portals.... Being Unimog The Mog stuff is a bit complicated to set up with off sets etc. If you have the coin use Nissan diffs and the Marks portals. They seem to think they can engineer them on 35's some how.
