Well i spoke with the store manager today and he agreed that it is being caused by manufacturing defect. He is going to contact the Maxxis rep to organise 2 replacement tyres.
I think it could have just been a bad batch of tyres.

Is it worth getting the outher 3 striped off the rim and checked for intenal damage?
Worst case is cost of 3 punture repairs but what about peace of mind?
