It wasnt pinched on a rock while offroad was it? looking at the rim near the bead it looks like its had a hard time.
So while cleaning the Disco today i noticed a couple of splits in the sidewall of my drivers front tyre, tyres have only done around 7000kms, the splits are about 1cm away from the bead of the tyre, all tyres only inflated to 40psi road use and 18 for offroad. Im thinking the tyre is defective, has anyone else encountered this problem

Posibile.
I noticed it's following the the manufacturing line (for want of a better way to say it).
I have seen this on truck tyres when on 2nd recaping.
Any chance of a claim from the tyre suplier given the low Kms.?
Check the insides of them too (the side you can't see easy)
Cheers.
theres a few things that can cause that. It doesnt look like its impact damage Id suggest that its more likely to be a fatigue failure from running hot and low (high speed beach work) or, gauging by the rest of the cracking on the rubber, age and UV exposure.

Looks like some sort of fatique/manufacture fault.
Check the others and ask if its warranty work?
This can happen to any tyre manufactured at some stage, hope no one just jumps on it and labels them rubbish now as they certainly are not.
Similar happened to some Coopers tyres and they were ridiculed.
I hope they sort it out and you regain some trust back in the tyres as that is what counts when heading bush.
Trust is a must when heading bush or for that matter just down the road to get the local paper.
the remained of the tyre in that top pic looks dry and cracked all over, looks more like a really old tyre that has been in the sun a long time, not a tyre that has done 7000km

Looks like fatigue resulting from a manufacturing fault given the age. Looks like the wall is about to separate from the bead. Have had this happen about 10 years ago on another now very popular yank brand. It was replaced under warranty.

Look for the tire manufacture date yuo may have been given old stock as the rubber looks like its old and has been run soft and gotten hot even the white lettering looks a tad yellowish and ive never seen that in 3 years of buck shots
I have never seen it in any tyre, im with lokka on this, they look as if they are old stock or something, as i said before they look all dry and cracked. I would be taking them back as soon as you can and make the person you bought them off aware of the problem so they can get it sorted before they get to bad.
