Make sure you start with the store manager mate, not the tyre changer. Good luck and keep us posted.

They are cheap, but remember a tyre is a disposable item

my 7.50 are more expensive, but better on road, better in the wet, better at highway speeds etc.....

I dont think they are that cheap....I paid 250 for 245/75 but was originally quoted 270 and others have been quoted close to 300 I wouldn't call that cheap....

my mongrels were 180 now thats cheap......and silverstones are cheaper than maxxis...and BF's are only mildly more expensive for the old pattern.

what make are your 7.50's simex?

All around the same price regardless of brand roughly around $250 per tyre, mine are Goodyears, replaced 2 after one delaminated after 7yrs on the car (and being a tubed tyre it still got me the 5km's to the tyre shop, couldn't stuff it anymore)

Regardless of price Maxxis is a well known brand and it shouldnt be happening. It shouldnt happen with any tyre for that matter, especially after so few KM's.

have you been to see the dealer? Are they being replaced? I think lokka hit the mark, they have to be old stock, they must have been sitting in a yard for ages somewhere or something to have cracked like that.

They are certainly a lot cheaper than MTRs (which they are almost a copy of). However, the tyres in question were manufactured in the first week of 09, and tyres should have a "shelf" life of at least 6 years.

Mine were made in 07, and they show no signs of the above. So unless the tyres have been stored in pure O3, I suspect a manufacturing defect.

I paid $320 a tyre at beginning of year.....plus they were just pipped at post by the new KM2's in a recent tyre comparo of 20 odd tyres. That aside...I haven't had any probs with mine....do 500+kms a week and then nail them bloody hard at least once a month off road.

    Regards

Like all things you get what you pay for, but for something like a tyre its not like a cheap chinese toy that you say oh well i should have spent a little more and got a better quality one and throw it out, tyres are a matter of safety and that isnt acceptable from any tyre.

I recenly bought a set of the new Goodyear MTR's with the kevlar in the sidewall to see how they went, yes they were expensive, but time will tell as to how much value for money is in them.
