Potential for URGENT help near port Augusta

Dads got an intermittant noise coming from the gear box of lara, from what we've talked about over the sat phone it sounds like one of the main gearbox bearings or the clutch has started the process of killing itself..

Hes towing a trialer thats on a treg/reece hitch and is currently about 370Km out of Port Augusta heading in from Coober Pedy at about 50 KPH.

is there anyone in the area that can lay on assistance or know of a mechanic in the area?

    cheers.

    Hi there all

    Update on the travelers.....

They have made it to our place in the Flinders Rangers this arvo.

    After close inspection:

We suspect the problem is with the powersteering pump. After taking of the drive belt, theres alot of play in the front drive (and noise). We suspect the front bearing has had better days - and possibly sucking in air causing the power steering fluid to air-ate and blowing out the filler container.

Took them for a drive this arvo down the creek in the 86", I think they enjoyed it talking about memories of past series vehciles........the old Series one's were not known of there comforts (well they didnt get wet thats a positive).

Well hopefully tomorrow we will have luck search for a new or reconditioned pump, to get these happy travellers back on the road to continue there holidays

    Well all the best
