well at least we have confirmation that panda's a female mechanic.

IF any one of the blokey type mechanics in here had fitted a new steering dampener to their series you could have expected a post like this one.

Well I finally did it I got round to replacing the small shock absorber like device that bolts from the chassis to the drag link. This replacement unit is a breed XYZ I purchased from someshop in whereami Its quite an effective unit taking advantage of technology gleaned from suspension with dual flow valving and gas pressurisation providing about X-ie netwons worth of resistance in both the compression and expansion phases. It was supplied with the original style rubber bushes but I got a sweet deal on some new neoprene covered utlracoolsoundy stuff that is built like a chocolate covered jube. Theres the normal long lasting neoprene on the outside and this extra soft stuff in the middle that allows for some serious deformation of the bush when its flexed under load.

This is all well and good in theory but hows it go in real life? in short Great. The replacement dampener has cured the probelm I was having of the steering being heavier in one direction than the other as well as solving an intermittant clanking noise I was getting from the front end. The steering is just nicely between the softer left hand turning and harder right that I was having with the old unit. Its just about perfect.

heres what we get from panda

Dont bother looking up the actual post for the bits I snipped out, Thats it, unless you happen to like lots of smilies.

and someone was doubting her femininity for doing a mechanics course.
