We have one here that has been around for about 3 years now, call him/her "Klaus" we hand feed it (raw Roo & Beef dog food) it now has company in the form of 4 butcher birds, our Magpies have not returned to nest this year yet, but when they do we will feed them too (stops them bombing you)
we try to be able to fit into the rural area, but the Possum which has taken up residence in the hole in the grey gum keeps walking across the yard in front of our dog runs at night and setting them barking, it knows full well they are locked up at night and I think it just does it to "P" them off

    Kookaburra's

Have you tried smearing some of the cooking fat from your chimney in the nest box you made, that should give them the smell they are looking for.as for the snake it's probably not a good idea to PEE off the balcony in the morning any more.
    cheers
    Paul
and please try not to harm them.

Kookas, Butcher birds and Maggies, I am missing now the best sounds of Australia.
Butchers IMO are the best performers, the out of tune are the green rats
