    Vic high country discussion papers

Looks like Parks Vic are reviewing there recreational access to the Vic High Country and seeking user input (for a change).

Have a read and add some input. Just click discuss at the top.

Yeah, sure .... I was hoping that too

then I read the 4x4 paper and thought I don't fit any of those groups they're basing the whole paper on ....

where did they get the data ?????

Supplied by Toyota, buyers of new Toyotas in 2002

No wonder I don't fit any of their "groups", and the percentages didn't reflect the type of people I see using 4x4's in the high country either.

Very dissappointed ... Parks basing all planning on innaccurate/flawed data. (Mountain Cattlemen all over again - only this time 4x4's)

Then there's the BIG STICK for the alleged 11% ... (I don't fit that group either) but, it's their park too ... If 11% of the park users want to behave like it's alleged, isn't it the job of Parks Vic to provide the places/opportunities/facilities ??????? Nup, decisions made, advised and justified in the report.

    What a load of Crap.

and I'll be saying so too (as soon as I can formulate a rational response)...

    please also get involved everyone.

well i dont see the need for this paragraph really

Environmentally Thoughtless Four Wheel Drivers (11% of the market): these are the highest risk user group for Parks Victoria. This group is most easily identified by their apparent lack of interest in preserving the natural, cultural and social environment and their anti-social behaviour.

could of said Hilux drivers then we'd all know what they are on about

I tried to put myself and alot of the people I know in their little boxes ... guess what ... didn't work.

    11% ??? .... in the places I like, I don't see 11%.

this would be the closest box

Environmentally Aware Outdoor Enthusiasts (27% of the market): these have a strong interest in the outdoors and bush areas and a strong concern for the environment.

Actually, reading the 'Recreation - Four Wheel Driving Discussion Paper', I thought it was a document that at least started to think about the legitimacy of four wheel drive use of the forest, and as such it is a useful place to start. Here we have something we can build on if we decide to work with them.

I will be making a submission.
