Went down to dept of Transport today to register a 1975 Centura as a special interest veh.
Was told MUST join a car club and also get a dating cert from same.
So does anyone know a car club in Capalaba/Cleaveland area??

    Mate,
    You don't need to.
As usual they don't know what they're talking about.
It is preferred/recommended/easier but not a necessity.
This is stated in policy and the regulations.

Get a copy of them and show them, or PM me if you get stuck.

That's interesting Fenian, didn't realise that, but i won't be promoting it

    Yes tracker, all boxes ticked

As John has said, also options of any other car club, though better to pick one you can use regularly be it restoration, historic race, etc.

Ok, Fenian. What is the secret. I have just read the guide on their web site and condition no. 1 says you MUST provide evidence of current membership. Also says Queensland Transport MAY waive this requirement if you can provide a "genuine reason".

Condition no. 1 also says a club official/dating officer MUST inspect and certify the vehicle and certification is to be on club letterhead or official document.

Interestingly, an official of a largish club in Brisbane recently told me that an estimated 70% of their membership are members only because of special interest registration. Most are not seen again after getting their SI registration.
