    Doin' a little road trip in North Qld - any info?

    The wife n I are planning to do a 2 week drive from Cairns to Brisbane in a couple of weeks and thought I'd put it out there for any good places to stay, see, eat at etc.

    Rough route is approx Cairns - Cape Trib - Atherton - T'ville- Hughenden - Winton - Emerlad - Canarvon Gorge - Roma - Charleville (maybe) - Brisbane.

    We are travelling light with a bit of camping gear but also happy to stay at pubs etc along the way.

    Any info would be great....

    If it were me Id think about doing...

    Cairns to Wujal via coast, then up to The Meg and camp. Then down the CREB and stay in Daintree or Wonga. That way you get the real rainforest experience and a beaut drive.
    Then up through Julatten and down through the tablelands.
    Down to Undarra for a night, (skip Townsville unless you need it) from Undarra down to Hughenden, then onto Longreach spend time at the museum etc then on across to Carnarvon and onward...

    you have a td5?...make sure your radiator hose at bottom of radiator is securely tied or it might get cut by fan blade. (like mine did)
