The fire is not threatening Byfield.
Just North/East Rocky.
It would make a great trip, really nice place.
The EPA site gives some info: http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_...ervation_park/
YeppoonInfo gives some pretty pics: http://www.yeppooninfo.com/archives/...-national-park

Havent been there for a few years myself but now that the local council has removed there illegal beach permits I will be returning.
Great drive and a lot of fun. Stopped going cause I was sick of the idiots that flock there on the weekend but if you going during the week you will have the place to yourself. I believe camping permits are now needed for 9 mile beach but not for 3 rivers.
Strongly recommend the book dirty weekends in central QLD, I used that for my first trip and found it easy to follow.
