"I have had the wire "balling" on the end and dripping off the wire to the weld"

are you welding with flux core or hard wire?
    gas or gasless?

    Is the polarity correct?

A picture paints a thousand words, especially of welds!!!

I've got it on the polarity suggested by the manual, but it does say you can try swapping and see how it welds.

It is using Gas (Argon Mix I think - just the bog standard BOC mild steel welding gas mix in the blue bottle anyway).

The wire is on a 15Kg roll, and looks to be plain single strand wire, 0.9mm. Again, it's the bog standard stuff that BOC would sell to a farmer.

How good is the shed power supply???
I didnt get what I asked for when I got my shed wired. There is a big voltage drop as the shed is 70m from the power source.
As others suggest up the power/adjust wire speed till you find the happy point.I need to run my welder at a higher power in my shed than I do in other places.
