Had a chafed line to my airbag on the lhs where it exits at the top of the spring, jack up car, remove wheel, put in 2 jack stands then lower jack and try to remove spring, scratched the head and jacked it up some more, wound up the jack stands and lower the jack and tried again. Start getting bloody crabby and think about undoing the sway bar. Sat on the tyre and thought what the heck is going on, its not that hard to pull a spring. Then it dawned on me - undo the bloody shockie ya goose.

We all have our moments of genius!![]()
Had a lovely experience this morning. Four days ago I hop into the trusty (!!!) beast and the key won't turn in the ignition at all.....steering lock firmly in place, key goes in smoothly etc but will not turn no matter what.Never had a problem before. Remember seeing some posts here on ignition barrel faults so check them all out, tried all the little tips, even took the steering cover shroud off and played inside all to no avail.
Log a call with the RAC, arrange tilt tray truck to cart it off into the wilderness for rectification, probably new ignition barrel methinks, arrange hire car due to my location and no public transport etc. After being let down by tilt tray not turning up yesterday phone up and issue a meaningful spray on lack of service etc.
Bear in mind that I have been playing with this problem for 4 days trying everything but solidly jammed, no results.
Truck backs up and tilts tray, I get the key which they will need for the repair job, insert key, turn to show operator what the problem is and the blessed things turns with no effort, car starts perfectly, lock completely free and no apparent issues whatsoever!
I just stood there with a look and feeling of absolute despair, tried to explain to operator what I had been doing for 4 days.....thankfully he just laughed and said it happens all the time with various vehicles.
Slunk back into the house, tried to smooth down my goose feathers whilst also avoiding the sharp kitchen knives so as not to slash my wrists!
Now I know why I refer to the beast as my girlfriend....if it's got wheels or boobs it will be trouble!
(Oops, sorry ladies)
Cheers
Very large goosey Mick.![]()
Oh yes indeedy........even used the spare key also in case the original had worn slightly and caused problems. Took the advice of some-one who posted previously and took the key blade out of the fob so I could use it with pliers to exert a little more force.....result zilch.
Just couldn't believe it turned so easily, particularly when I had already tried again just prior to the truck arriving!
Now of course I'm a bit concerned that one of the wafers in the barrel has come loose and will present further problems. I'm going to Perth next week so may get the barrel changed just in case.
The old story of nothing faulty happens when you try to show the mechanic, just to make you look stupid.
Cheers
Mick
jumped in the county the other day. key felt a bit hard to push in, wouldn't turn so FFFFFFFFF then after a few minutes i realized i was trying to start with the door key LOL
How long have you been at Pt Sampson? I used to deliver the fuel there, caravan park and wharf.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
