    Guantanamo torture

Thought it was interesting that they considered listening to Britney as torture:

A 2004 Defence Department report cited by the group detailed an interrogation method known as the "futility" technique, which included playing the music of Metallica and Britney Spears to detainees.

What is the world coming to?? they want to sue> what for someone playing there music, maybe they need to write a copyright clause stating......

" The playing of Music by Pearl Jam whilst under interagation is against the law "

I hoped they played "Am I evil" ( diamond head Metallica cover ) Broken beat and Scarred Creeping Death Whiplash My Apocalypse...

Pear Jam Alive and World Wide Suicide

And what about killing innocent people with planes, boombs, and IDA's do they forget about that??

They actually want to sue in order to declassify documents so they can help get Gitmo shut down.

I guess "playing music for 72 hours in a row at volumes just below that to shatter the eardrums" changes it from a pleasure somewhat. Most people who enjoy music also have a sleep more often than once in 3 days.

As for killing innocent people The Los Angeles Times published an article which said that many Afghans now in Guantanamo Bay were forcibly conscripted into the Taliban army because they could not afford the bribes demanded to avoid military service. One example cited was of a 30-year-old farmer who was picked up by Northern Alliance forces because they were “interested in stealing his car and money”.
The Times quoted from the case file of a 22-year-old Afghan who sold firewood at a bus station in Kunduz. According to interrogators: “He answers all questions quickly and fully.... His story is plausible and consistent and there is no evidence that he has worked for or had any knowledge of the Taliban or Al Qaeda.” In another instance, interrogators described a 33-year-old taxi driver from Pakistan captured by Northern Alliance forces near Mazar-i-Sharif as a “low-level fighter with no tactical intelligence. Recommend repatriation.”

I guess when you employ bounty hunters the results are predictable.

According to Wikipedia, of the 775 detainees in Gitmo since the Afghanistan war started in 2001, 420 have been since released without charge...and I guess withot their hearing!!.

Papers will print what they want to sell copies. My thoughts are if you are involved in war or indeed terror campaigns and you get caught then you lose any rights you had as a human being, you are a weapon of war.

I am sure theres innocent people in there, but again innocent people are all ways involved in war, be that a person sat at his desk in the world trade center when it gets hit or a Afgan boy sat eating his dinber when a BLU-82 "Daisy Cutter" lands on his head.

    Wikipedia ? Please !

    Anyway, boo hoo..

"The essence of war is violence. Moderation in war is imbecility"
    -British Sea Lord John Fisher

"If men make war in slavish obedience to rules, they will fail."
    - Ulysses S. Grant

Get it done and get it over. Don't p*** fart around and drag it out forever. Our greatest failing, militarily is moderation. This whole PC bull, ahem, cockamamie. Never mid a surge.. we need OVERWHELMING force, for a relatively brief period...

or maybe I'm just grumpy coz the work day can;t be over soon enough...

That sounds like the previous Soviet strategy....send 620,000 troops to Afghanistan and get it over quickly. I guess their 9 years could be considered a "relatively brief period" if you look at it in the context of geological time....but then again I suppose you could say they didn't really "get it done" nor "over".
Fisher and Grant must be turning in their graves at the lost opportunities today using nuclear weapons.

this a fact.....our australian SAS has had Osama Bin Ladin in their reticles on a number of occasions and have not been allowed to squeeze the trigger....thats moderation...the prime regard wanted to capture him so they could take him to Gitmo and play music to him.

Part of the hearts and mind programme is to get the civilians on the other side to oppose the war, you can win the hearts of the locals but if you are undermined from home you lose remember vietnam i talk to vietnamese vets ( I work in cabramatta) all the time they wanted our help but our own people lost us the war
