Blame the education system, Blame the education system....

and then we ask what happened to the 3 R's.

If the education system was doing everything people blamed them for... well, a school day would be 48 hours long.

    Thank you!

It's not like the kids today are learning nothing, just different things to what we might have learnt (or what we think they should be learning maybe???).

I don't really know why someone in their teens/early twenties should know who the Nazi's were? Why? Knowing that would be at the expense of knowing something else, wouldn't it? That is, maybe they elected to study commerce instead of history (or geography or whatever) in years 9 and 10 or vice-versa.

Because its only by remembering the screw ups in the past we can prevent them in the feuture...

But someone already hit the nail on the head the Muslims are breeding at a much faster rate than the rest of the demography so its only common sense that the majority of country's will become Muslim governed by Shiite law sooner or later...bugger what a world...

I always find it amusing that when a European visits a Mideastern country you have to abide by there laws or else, yet when they go Europe there not forced to follow our laws...

Ummm...have to disagree with that...seen too many ****ed up kids as a result of poor parenting. Three year olds left alone whilst junkie parents go and buy their gear, cigarette burns in 6 months old back sides..the father that says to his 10 year old ...."son, go get your old man another beer will 'ya..there's a good boy"...I could go on.

It's a team effort. Once they are at school, parental input reduces dramatically. Teachers play a huge role in a child's upbringing these days, through not only the education side of things, but through mentoring, pastoral care etc etc..When I went to school..there were no counsellors or psychologists for the kids...there are now.

And lets face it, kids..or I should say babies... are in "school" (read day care/preschool) as soon as mum's maternity leave is over so she can get back to work and pay the bills. Unless of course you are wealthy enough and take up a space in a child care centre so you can get your nails done and your tan sprayed on and have lunch with the "girls.."

And what you see at 7 years old...you see for life.

    MickS,

Hang on - aren't you agreeing? Poor parenting is still parenting.

I also think you have been reading too many education department press releases. Having one just finished secondary school and one almost. We haven't seen much extra services. Teachers are good but can't expect them to be surrogate parents - nor do I.

I take great pride in having a stay at home wife. We tightened our belts and lived within our means so she didn't have to work. It has been great for the kids. (agree this is probably the exception now though). Yes we still don't have a wide screen TV....

I find some of the Muslim comments in this thread a little xenophobic.

I wonder how the Moors felt ............

Not agreeing at all mate...let me rephrase..."the persons who conceived the infant.." Can't call them parents..

I've seen plenty of "the persons who conceived the infant.." who I wouldn't let mind my dog let alone want to raise a child...take stroll through some DOCS files...child protection cases..these people should be sterilised for society's sake, but no, they punch out another kid so they can get the baby bonus and buy a plasma.

Case in point...a triple overdose at Petersham train station..3 down, all but dead...baby in a pram crying, face red, **** in its nappy, filthy...I'm first car there...I ain't helping these pieces of ****...ambos turn up...narcan them...5 minutes later all 3 are up and I'm punching on with the "father" because I told him he wasn't getting the baby back...long story short...3 hours later the "father" gets the baby back under orders from DOCS...last I saw he walked off down Marrickville Road...never saw him or the kid again...what chance has that kid got with him as a "parent"...none.

And no, have never read an education department press release. I chose to have my children schooled at a catholic school for secondary Daughter just finished year 12...dux...boy headed the same way...the teachers there have been absolutely brilliant...from the principal down.

Can't say the same for when they were at a public primary unfortunately. Son had 8 different teachers in 2 years...

    great mick.
sounds like you have a good school.

My point is still valid though.

You said you have seen "bleeped up kids becasue of poor parenting"
DB said that "parents are the best teachers"

Ie Poor parents = bleeped up kids.

I'm not having a go at you, just saying that you are agreeing not disagreeing.

I get the feeling you may see more of the darker side or life than the average person.
