    Thumbs down Whats Happened to Rays Outdoors?

    Went to the Nunawading store today to get a map..... nothing complicated, just a Hema or Rooftop of the area East of Bright.
    NO Hema maps, NO Rooftop maps..nothing!
    Asked at the counter and was told that demand for paper maps was down so they weren't stocking the way they used to.
    I HAVE a GPS...... try planning a trip fom scratch on one!
    I think there is a business opp out there for someone.
    Bloody disgusted in an icon of the Outdoors/Adventurer market being too slack to stock bloody MAPS

    They do all the big shows also.

    Yep i found the same. I also found that servos around the area stock good maps. Mobil in myrtleford has most maps of the area... i seem to always be picking one up there on the way through having forgotton the one I bought last time through.... lol

    A sign of the times unfortunately, try to find a specialist map shop !! - All the ones I knew have closed (still one at Parramatta)

    Apparently it's the same with things like UBD - I've heard they aren't producing some 2010 versions because the demand isn't there any more.

    Mapworld, is also a good resourse.

    Rays Outdoors took over Boots Camping here in NSW and stuffed it all up, Rays is now full of air headed people who know nothing about what they sell

    I totally agree...the local store employs muppets who clearly never venture outside. Their product knowledge leaves a great deal to be desired.
