    V8 Supercar Farce

What is it with AVESCO, is Whincup a protected species? He got away with it again today. Makes at least 7 times this year he should have been black flagged quite clearly and today again. If it was anyone else they would have got pinged.
I dont min the bloke and he is a talented driver, but there has to be some equity in interpretation and disbursement of the rules.
Well at least he hit the wall of his own doing. Between the Vodaphone cars in race 2 they took out 4 cars.

yep not passionate about it at all ! just think its funny how one week holden fans are gloating about how good holdens are for winning bathurst, 2 weeks later things dont go all there way and it comes down to being fords fault.

And no i did,nt see the start or restart of the race, did,nt bother to watch it at all over the weekend, other than what i saw on the news sports report

Yes I am a Holden fan, but that is irrelevant and my observations are not biased on that basis. I actually like Craig Lowndes and Jamie Winchup and think they are talented drivers. It just seem AVESCO are not being consistent in their application of the rules. It appears there are one or two Ford drivers that are untouchable and a couple of Ford and Holden drivers that are getting pinged for every little thing.
The restart of race 2 leg 2 was a joke, but Lowndes was clearly at fault and as such deserved a black flag, but it should have been issued earlier than it was. Winchup did similar and did not get touched and has now done so about 7 times this year without penalty.
Same with Rick Kelly, now I understand leaking fuel can be dangerous, but they have let it go a many times this year without penalty, then yesterday the penalise a driver in 2nd on the track that was not really causing issues with other cars.
Some consistency with the application of the rules would be nice, thats all.
And nothing to do with being Fords fault or Holden winning or losing.

Totally agree. The race start / restart was a joke. It should have been left as it was but with a penalty for Lowndes.

Whincups general driving yesterday was, to quote one of the team bosses, 'not becoming of a champion'

The fuel issue on Kellys car should have been left. It had almost stopped by the time they issued the penalty, and there is no consistency atall.

    Agree with all...

And I had both Craig & Jamie sign the dashboard of my XR6 when I had it.

The restart of race 2 yesterday was a complete farce.

The other question that needs to be asked is, was another 600 km too much for the drivers in the Gold Coast heat just 2 weeks after Bathurst?

Oh, and BTW - Frosty did a terrific job over the weekend...

    Following on from this....

Top Ten Shootout at Bathurst.....Dumbrell runs off the damp circuit at The Chase on his hotlap and no penalty applied nor the lap time disallowed. So he is placed 8th on the grid even though other cars completed their slower laps on the wet circuit.

Top Ten Shootout at Gold Coast....Ingall runs off the circuit at one of the chicanes on his hot lap and his time is immeadiatly disqualified.

I am struggling to find any report on Dumbrell and even on the Bathurst telecast nothing was mentioned. My interpretation is that Dumbrell should have had his time disallowed and be placed 10th on the grid.

Can anyone enlighten me on how this can occur?

It is getting to be like Speedway in bygone days. Deliberate pushing and barging and fisticuffs in the pits.

Who cares whether they are Holden or Ford. This is a silhouette series. Purpose built race cars that are virtually identical except for the badge and a handful of engine parts.

If the controlling body is going to allow their cash cow business (I refuse to call it motor sport) to be body contact, then for spectator purposes they should utilise a one mile banked oval either dirt or sealed. 50,000 spectators in an all seated stadium and the controlling body pockets royalties from all the vendors. NASCAR has done this very well for fifty years, huge revenues and all the teams get a share.

Was watching the supercars yesterday and they did a segment on how the cars are built - shock horror they are neither a falcon or a holden.

The chassis are the same, (not Commodore or falcon), the suspension and drive train are the same, axles diffs eg are the same, steering the same - all the same, the gearboxes are the same.

The only dedicated parts are the engines - chev and ford - and ford or commodore outer body panels to make each look like the original product. These are just the out panels bolted/welded/glued to the home made chassis/roll cage.

And here was me thinking that they actually started with a ford or holden body shell and reinforced it - roll cage etc. The commentator could not tell which car was which model without the outer panels on.

What a crock - so much for branding - they are all the same basic car just with different engines.
