    swimming pool question

Anyone know what base chemical one can safely use in a swimming pool to raise the alkalinity?

The stuff you buy off the shelf is a little pricey and if I new what to use I could go direct to chemical suppliers.

I need a hell of a lot to get my Alkalinity up so I don't waste the chlorine.

    Thanks in advance

Sodium BiCarbonate can be used. Also known as Baking Soda

No salt - I use only chlorine granules, nothing else.
PH spot on, just the alkalinity far too low.

Thanks, please advise if bicarb of Soda is ok to raise Alkalinity level.

By error I said 'Soda Ash' is the same as 'Sodium BiCarbonate'. They are different, 'Soda Ash' is Sodium Carbonate it will raise your pH.

Yep. Sodium Bicarbonate will fix it.
