    Wierd gearstick knob inscription.

    Hi folks.

Something to ponder on this lovely cool Sunday morning.

My '82 Mitsubishi Canter has a 5 speed gearbox.

The knob on the gear stick has inscribed R-1-2-3-4-OT.

Anyone got any, clean, ideas about what "OT" means?

(I have already thought of "old truck")

It stands for "over top" as in over top gear. Porsche's of the same vintage have exactly the same inscription.

All I could think off was "Off Topic" - for shifting on a Forum.

Funny thing is I can recall seeing this on some vehicles years ago and never questioning what it stood for.

I think it's the Jap translation from the Latin for ovus drivus.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
