Discovery 4 and a Sound n Sound baby seat

    Hi,

    Can anyone please help me.

We are currently living in the UK and about to move back home to Brisbane in 2 weeks time. We've bought the new Discovery 4 and yesterday my mum pick up the car seat i found online.

Its a Safe N Sound Maxi Rider convertible booster.

I know nothing about how they attach into aussie cars...
    Its very different over here.

Does anyone know if my car seat will fit in easily.. ie i think it has to bolt in? Or do i need to get something thats called an expansion strap???

We're also getting a Holden Astra OR a Hyandai i30. do you know how it would fit in that also please???

    Many thanks,

    Veronika

Australian delivered cars have a bracket on the back of the middle row of seats which connect via strap to the top strap on the baby seat. The seat belt then wraps around & thru the base of the baby seat to fix the bottom of the baby seat.

Be careful of compatibility as I believe the european cars us an iso fix system which is different to the standard required in Australia.

The system in Australia will be the same for the other cars you mentioned.

You should be able to go to the Safe n Sound Australian website for advice.

    Regards

    Chuck

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Chuck,

We've bough the Disco 4 in OZ, so hoping it has the aussie standards in built.

Yes over here they use ISOFIX and its completely different. So i dont think my setup from here will work in the aussie car.

Now just need to find out what strap length i need.

    Thanks,

    Veronika

I recently fitted a baby seat for my grand daughter in my new D3 - both Australian - straps supplied with baby seat were adjustable & easily long enough.

You shouldn't need an extension strap unless the anchor point is right at the back of the car. The anchor straps on Safe and Sound car seats are usually several feet long.

If the Australian spec D4 is the same as the D3, it still has the Isofix bars on the seats; we don't get a different seat to the UK spec.

It's just that you can't get Isofix baby seats here because they haven't been tested yet to Australian Standards.

Just use the Isofix system. if it;s a booster seat it's still legal to do so.
