there are no US military bases in australia.
We are a part of the same NATO force. What there are are US military "Establishments" that reside in part of Australian bases as well as Embassy's (SP?)
I know thats nit picking but hey...
I know of 3..
Being such as big place, it seems its easy to build a base in the middle of the desert, In addition to Pine Gap, the most important, there are over 30 other US facilities on our territory so a report says, any one see any of these on there travels?

Naval Communications Station Harold E Holt (NCS HEH)
21°56'S 114°07'E Exmouth Western Australia
One of the most amazing sights I've ever seen
The station features thirteen tall radio towers. The tallest tower is called "Tower Zero" and is 387 m (1,270 ft) tall, and was for many years the tallest man-made structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Six towers, each 304 metres tall, are evenly placed in a circle around Tower Zero. The other six towers, which are each 364 metres tall, are evenly placed in a larger circle around Tower Zero. - Wikipedia
Technically I believe this an Australian base now, but you can't tell me that ...

To ask about US bases is a grey area these days...Townsville always has US vehicles, gear, ships and troops around. While it's technically our base, I'd guess from personal observations that in reality it's 50/50. I'd assume that the US personnel are present at most major installations some way or another around the country.![]()

Do you know what you do when you assume, you make an
ASS out U and ME. I visit Laverack Barracks on a regular basis and the only foreign personal I have ever seen is exchange personal As for vehicles and troops they would be here on exrcise's same as our troops go to the UK and USA on exercises. I am not trying to start an argument, but I think your statement is a little over the top.

Whoa mate...I was only referring to Townsville from what I've seen every time I go up there (quite regularly). There's always US personnel and equipment. I said I was assuming about the rest, and made it as a harmless comment.
*Edit* I realise that these guys are there for training purposes, but the frequency is noticeable enough to a civilian.
