Look what came out of the closet,,

So there I was tapping away merrily at the keyboard when Guiness lets go with one of his big exhales,, I spin around on the chair to see him sniffing and biting near the speaker cable that runs under the closet door.
Dont bite that I say and he stops,, so I open the door to see if he had damaged the cable,,,,
    and hear this slithering noise----
and a flash of grey in the dark behind the old monitor I store on the floor inside,,

by this stage the dogs gone ballistic barking and trying to stick his head under the monitor,, and receives a nip on his nose for good measure!! a yelp and sudden retreat to stand "guard" in the doorway.

I roll the monitor out and find a 2 foot long Blue Tongue staring back at me,, and he's quite worked up over something!!
Not being 12 years old any more I threw a towel over him and released him up the back where his friends live.

I'd REALLY like to know how he got there,,
its a brick/cement slab house,, there were no big black holes when we moved in,, though I did find another one (bluey)in the garage recently.

I might go give security a biscuit,, best to keep on his good side,,

    Hey crump!

would they be looking for water?

Blue tongues do come close to houses if water is available nearby. We leave water out for them and they often come around for a drink. They also like soft bananas as well. We do have to watch the dog though, as he really isn't too keen on them.

Our dog bailed up a goanna in our lounge room a couple of years ago, the goanna was only about 2 foot long, but it had come down the chimney (it was summer time)

It was fun and games catching it and relocating it up the back paddock.
Left a sooty mess on the loungeroom floor too.

Blue tongues can flatten themselves out quite well and squeeze under doors etc.

BTW if a blue tongue does latch onto your hand, don't try to pull it off - it doesn't work - Put your hand ..and the lizard...under water and it will release the grip.

...Just a bit of useless information, in case you ever need it

    They love strawberries too.

It's funny to watch them stalking the berries in the garden, then leap onto them and gobble them down.

Tell me about it - between the Blue Tongues and the English blackbirds - we get very few strawberries! AND, we have a raised garden bed, but the Blueys still get up to them.
